Mariem Hassan, la voz más representativa de la música saharaui y símbolo de un pueblo en el exilio, enfrentó su última etapa de vida retirándose al desierto, en una zona liberada donde creció. Allí, con plena conciencia de su destino, compuso La Despedida y pidió que su testimonio final fuera registrado, dejando un legado de resistencia, identidad y memoria.
Mariem Hassan, the most representative voice of Sahrawi music and a symbol of a people in exile, faced the final stage of her life by retreating to the desert, to a liberated zone where she grew up. There, fully aware of her fate, she composed "La Despedida" (The Farewell) and asked that her final testimony be recorded, leaving a legacy of resistance, identity, and memory.
