Cristina Ortega Blanco (España/Spain)
Cineasta, productora y artista visual cuyo trabajo refleja profundamente las narrativas culturales y sociales de la España rural. Miembro Numerario de la Academia del Cine, Licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Salamanca y Máster en Cine Documental Creativo por la URJ. En su formación cinematográfica ha tenido a profesores de calado internacional que han dejado fuerte poso en su modo de hacer y mirar el mundo. Entre ellos el cineasta iraní Abbas Kiarostami y el vasco Víctor Erice. A los 28 años, hizo su debut como directora con el largometraje documental Los sonidos de la soledad (2016), que explora las vidas de cinco mujeres que viven solas en áreas rurales y su relación íntima con la naturaleza a través del sonido. En 2019, continuó profundizando en temas de identidad y memoria con su segundo largometraje documental, La loba Parda, que captura la esencia de los últimos pastores trashumantes en las tierras altas de Soria. La película ilustra la conexión entre las identidades que se desvanecen y la memoria colectiva de las comunidades rurales. La cinta participó en la Sección oficial DOC España64 SEMINCI 2019, el ciclo SGAE Documental 2020, el 7º ciclo nacional de CINE Y MUJERES RURALES 2020, el festival ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA 2021 y COOL DOCS 2021, entre otros. La loba parda se estrenó en CINETECA Madrid, forma parte del catálogo de películas ICAA y fue candidata a los premios GOYA 2021. En la actualidad, Cristina dirige y produce su tercer largometraje, La Lamía de Lumias, al tiempo que desarrolla el guion de El Rastro, proyecto que ha obtenido el reconocimiento de la iniciativa Castilla y León New Talent / Premio Open ECAM en SEMINCI69 y ha sido finalista en Aguilar film festival 36AFF. A través de su lente, Cristina Ortega Blanco sigue iluminando un mundo en peligro de extinción, recordándonos las historias profundas que sólo el cine puede captar.
Filmmaker, producer, and visual artist whose work deeply reflects the cultural and social narratives of rural Spain. A full member of the Spanish Film Academy, she holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary Filmmaking from the URJ (Rey Juan University). Her film training has included internationally renowned professors who have profoundly influenced her approach to filmmaking and her worldview. Among them are the Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami and the Basque filmmaker Víctor Erice. At 28, she made her directorial debut with the feature-length documentary *The Sounds of Solitude* (2016), which explores the lives of five women living alone in rural areas and their intimate relationship with nature through sound. In 2019, she continued exploring themes of identity and memory with her second feature-length documentary, La loba Parda (The Brown Wolf), which captures the essence of the last transhumant shepherds in the highlands of Soria. The film illustrates the connection between fading identities and the collective memory of rural communities. The film participated in the Official Selection DOC España64 SEMINCI 2019, the SGAE Documentary Cycle 2020, the 7th National Cycle of CINEMA AND RURAL WOMEN 2020, the ETNOVIDEOGRÁFICA Festival 2021, and COOL DOCS 2021, among others. La loba parda premiered at CINETECA Madrid, is part of the ICAA film catalog, and was nominated for the 2021 Goya Awards. Currently, Cristina is directing and producing her third feature film, La Lamía de Lumias, while also developing the screenplay for El Rastro, a project that has received recognition from the Castilla y León New Talent initiative / Open ECAM Award at SEMINCI69 and was a finalist at the Aguilar Film Festival 36AFF. Through her lens, Cristina Ortega Blanco continues to illuminate a world in danger of extinction, reminding us of the profound stories that only cinema can capture.
